As a pelvic floor physical therapist, I understand that the idea of a pelvic examination can be daunting for many patients. That's why I've created a video to explain what to expect during your first pelvic examination with me.
During your initial evaluation, we'll begin by discussing your medical history and any symptoms you may be experiencing. This information will help me understand your condition and develop an appropriate treatment plan.
Next, we'll move to the examination room. You'll be asked to undress from the waist down and cover yourself with a sheet or gown. I'll begin by examining the external genitalia to check for any abnormalities or signs of infection.
Then, I'll perform an internal exam to assess the strength, tone, and coordination of your pelvic floor muscles. This will involve inserting a gloved finger into the vagina or rectum to feel the muscles and assess any areas of tension or weakness.
While I understand that this can be uncomfortable or embarrassing for some patients, it's important to note that this is a routine and important part of pelvic floor evaluation. Throughout the exam, I'll explain everything I'm doing and ask for your feedback to ensure your comfort and safety.
After the exam, we'll discuss any findings and develop a treatment plan tailored to your individual needs. This may include exercises, manual therapy, and education on lifestyle modifications to support your pelvic floor health.
I hope this video has helped alleviate any fears or concerns you may have had about your upcoming pelvic examination. As a pelvic floor physical therapist, my goal is to provide a safe and comfortable environment for patients to address their pelvic floor concerns and improve their quality of life. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact my office to schedule an appointment.
No matter whether your condition was caused by a sport, work accident or otherwise, we welcome the chance to serve you.

Jaclyn is amazing and sets my standard for a good physical therapist. She genuinely cares and is excellent at finding exercises that actually work for each individual rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach.
